This piece is based on Bessie Smith's Backwater Blues, and was created as part of my Rooftop Trombone series during the total lockdown in Malaysia in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. The first performance was on Bessie Smith's birthday. Due to the isolation of the lockdown, this performance included a rhythm section provided by Band-in-a-Box.
